Mint-green, turquoise and lavender fields meet grey and olive-brown tones in “Just for fun” by Ruth Christiansen. A large, pale area opens through the upper half, while dark green and almost black forms gather towards the right. Small flashes of orange, red and yellow interrupt the restrained palette, lending the painting a playful character.
Broad, irregular fields of colour alternate with fine marks and broken impressions. Pale, winding lines trace across the dark areas on the right, creating a graphic contrast to the soft colour transitions. Along the lower part, purple, grey and pale yellow layers gather around small, vivid accents.
The subject remains abstract, though the angular forms and open, light spaces may evoke an imaginative landscape. The title leaves room for a free, curious response, allowing the eye to follow small glimpses of colour without searching for a single narrative. The square 60 × 60 cm format brings the composition together in a balance of quiet fields and lively details.
